Summit County Juvenile Delinquency Lawyer

Breckenridge, Colorado, Juvenile Defense Attorney

If your son or daughter under the age of 18 has been accused of a crime, the juvenile justice system can create a difficult and confusing situation. The juvenile courts operate under a different set of procedures, and although the records are sealed from the general public, the consequences of a juvenile record can be serious. As soon as possible, you should consult with a criminal defense attorney experienced in juvenile delinquency matters.

My name is Timothy A. Meinert, an attorney with more than 16 years of experience defending people facing the criminal justice system, including many minors. I will work diligently to obtain the best possible outcome for your child.

What Happens Now?

In most juvenile cases, the child is released to a parent or guardian pending the filing of a petition of juvenile delinquency. In certain cases, such as violent crimes or if the juvenile has a previous record, the court may order the child to be placed in a juvenile delinquency facility. I can assist in the preliminary stages of a juvenile case, to secure release from detention and seek alternative dispositions in the case. Whether or not your child is detained in a juvenile matter, it is important to consult with an attorney at an early stage of the proceedings.

Protecting Your Child's Future

There are programs available to provide alternative dispositions in juvenile cases, such as juvenile diversion. For many juveniles, these dispositions can keep their records clean and preserve their educational and career options.

In the event that there is a petition of juvenile delinquency filed with the court, I can represent juveniles with the myriad of issues that can be present in these cases.
